Big Ideas Fest Speakers Liz Dwyer
Liz Dwyer is a Los Angeles-based writer and editor who has covered women's empowerment, race, education, and social justice for several national websites and print publications including BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Ebony, and Good Housekeeping. She currently works as the managing editor for Shondaland.com. As the former education and culture editor for TakePart, the digital arm of Participant Media, she specialized in coverage of diversity in public schools, access to and preparation for college, and the evolving role of libraries as hubs of learning. She was also previously the education editor at GOOD magazine. Before her career in journalism, Liz taught third grade in Compton, California as a Teach For America corps member and worked in the educational nonprofit sector. In her spare time she volunteers in schools, runs marathons, and roots for Northwestern and Notre Dame football.
